NEW DELHI: Severe cold wave conditions were seen throughout the northern parts of the country on Saturday, with minimum temperatures in Rajasthan’s Fatehpur (Sikar) and Churu falling to below freezing. The minimum temperature in Rajasthan was recorded at -3.3 ° C in Fatehpur by Sikar district, and in neighboring Churu it was -1.1 ° C according to the meteorological department.
People in Jaipur woke up to the coldest morning of the season so far when a minimum temperature of 4.9 ° C was recorded, almost four degrees below normal.
Parts of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, also experienced a cold wave on Saturday due to cool winds from the north. Extreme cold conditions were seen all over Uttarakhand on Saturday, with the Met department issuing a yellow warning in the state until 24 December. On Friday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Ranichauri at -2.7 ° C. In Mussoorie the temperature dropped to 2 ° C at night. According to IMD, the minimum average temperature in Uttarakhand on Saturday was 3.8 ° C, 3 notches less than normal, while the average maximum temperature was 17.8 ° C, four notches below normal.
A new snowfall in the higher parts of Himachal Pradesh has set Manali, Shimla, Solan, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and Dalhousie during a cold wave. Water froze inside pipes in higher areas of Chamba, Lahul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Shimla.
