November 14 marks World Diabetes Day. Diabetes is a chronic disease that causes long-term health complications, which is why it is perceived as a silent killer. More than 425 million people around the world are diabetic. The International Diabetes Federation stated that India recorded 72.9 million cases of diabetes. Before the international day, let’s take a look at the first warning signs of diabetes and how to manage it and stay healthy:
HIGHER FREQUENCY OF URINATION
In type 2 diabetics, the urge to urinate increases as the kidney tries to remove excess glucose from the blood.
Blurry vision
It is said to be one of the first symptoms of diabetes. The reason is that due to sudden changes in blood sugar levels, the eye muscles cannot adapt to the rapid changes and lead to blurred vision.

INCREASED THIRST AND DRYING OF MOUTH
Due to frequent urination, the body becomes dehydrated.
GREATER HUNGER PANGS, SUDDEN WEIGHT LOSS
Since cells do not receive adequate glucose in type 2 diabetes, this leads to unexpected weight loss and makes you feel hungry. With urination you also lose the weight of the water.
FATIGUE
Due to improper functioning of blood sugar levels, the body experiences exhaustion. Hyperglycemia or high blood sugar causes fatigue.
For type 1 diabetes, symptoms that are sudden are identified right away. Be on the lookout for signs and the sooner you recognize them, the better.

As a prevention, watch your diet and follow a healthy lifestyle that should include 30 minutes of walking every day. Doing light exercises, yoga, meditation; Get enough sleep, dinner between 7 and 8 pm are some ways to control the disease.
Some of the other measures include:
- Have gudmar and shilajit
- Eat fresh green vegetables (bitter gourd, bottle gourd, crested gourd) and bitter herbs like gokshura, musta, fenugreek, or coriander.
- Take triphala, amla powder, or fruit.
- Avoid carbonated beverages, packaged foods, chips, cookies, and brownies and instead eat local, homemade fruits.
