World Cup T20: Gautam Gambhir and Ravichandran Ashwin participate in the debate on the “spirit of the game” on the Six Off of David Warner, Mohammad Hafeez

Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter to offer his thoughts on By David Warner six by Mohammad Hafeez during Australia’s five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the World Cup T20 semi-finals in Dubai on Thursday. Ashwin’s comments came after former India starter Gautam Gambhir mentioned the “spirit of the game” debate in a tweet on Thursday. “What an absolutely pathetic display of the spirit of the game by Warner! #Shameful What do you say @ ashwinravi99?” Gambhir tweeted Thursday after Warner took advantage of Hafeez’s double-rebound error and hit a six.

In response to Gambhir’s comment, an Australian journalist tweeted: “Wrong to take Gautam.”

Ashwin responded to the tweet, saying, “Your point is that if this is okay, that was okay. If that was wrong, this is wrong too. Fair evaluation?”

Ashwin was referring to the criticism he faced for firing Jos Buttler to ‘Mankading’ in an IPL match in 2019.

“Warner just played the ball in front of him, he didn’t do anything wrong,” a Twitter user replied to Ashwin’s tweet.

The veteran Indian spinner then indicated that he saw nothing wrong with Warner taking advantage of the failed delivery.
