Will Azamgarh be renamed Aryamgarh? Yogi Adityanath Drops Big Clues

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath hinted on Saturday that the name of the city of Azamgarh could be changed to Aryamgarh. Today, the prime minister along with the Union Interior Minister Amit Shah were there to lay the foundation stone for a state university.

Addressing a meeting there, Yogi Adityanath said that the creation of a state university will really turn ‘Azamgarh into Aryamgarh’. “There should be no doubt that this university will really turn ‘Azamgarh into Aryamgarh,'” said the prime minister.

Azamgarh is considered the territory of the Samajwadi Party leader and former Prime Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who won from here in the last parliamentary elections by obtaining more than 60% of the votes.

Addressing the demonstration in Azamgarh, Amit Shah suggested to CM Adityanath that he name the university after Maharaja Suheldev. Azamgarh was known for his radicalization during the Samajwadi Party rule. Now, Azamgarh will be known for his education. I want to suggest to CM Yogi Adityanath that he name the university that is being built here in honor of Maharaja Suheldev, “he said.

Along with Amit Shah, Adityanath, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other BJP leaders were present during the university’s groundbreaking function in Azamgarh.

Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls early next year.
