Trinamool Congress nominates ex-Goa CM Luizinho Faleiro to Rajya Sabha

Former Prime Minister of Goa and recently appointed National Vice President of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Luizinho Faleiro, was nominated for the Rajya Sabha by the party on Saturday.

In announcing the decision, the Mamata banerjee-the led party wrote on Twitter: “We are very happy to nominate @luizinhofaleiro to the Upper House of Parliament. We trust that your efforts to serve the nation will be widely appreciated by our people! ”.

Faleiro had resigned from Congress and also resigned as an MLA on September 29 before joining the TMC. “In a political career spanning more than four decades, former Goa CM Luizinho Faleiro has worked hard for the development of people. We have full faith that under his able leadership, AITC will reach greater heights and continue the fight to protect the democratic rights of all Indian citizens, ”TMC said in a statement upon its incorporation.

The TMC, as part of its national expansion plan, has entered the electoral battle in Goa and has decided to contest the elections scheduled for early next year on its own. The party has called its campaign for the 2022 elections in Goa ‘Goenchi Navi Sakal’ (Goa’s New Dawn), and has lobbied leaders such as Derek O’Brien, Babul Supriyo and Sougata Roy to strengthen the organization.

Recently, tennis veteran Leander Paes also joined the Trinamool Congress, saying that he wanted to create a difference in society by thwarting all attempts to divide it on religious and racial grounds.
