More than 111.95 crore of vaccine doses administered in India so far: Ministry of Health | India News

NEW DELHI: The Cumulative Vaccine for COVID-19 Doses administered in the country exceeded 111.95 million rupees on Saturday, Union Ministry of Health said.
More than 52 lakh (52,28,385) doses of vaccine have been administered as of 7pm. The daily vaccination count is expected to increase with the compilation of late-day reports late at night, he said.
The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the country’s most vulnerable population groups against Covid-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level, the ministry stressed.
The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 and health workers (HCs) were vaccinated in the first phase.
Vaccination of front-line workers (PDA) began on February 2.
The next phase of the Covid-19 vaccination began on March 1 for people aged 60 and over and those aged 45 and over with specific comorbid conditions.
The country launched vaccination for all people over the age of 45 as of April 1.
The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to get vaccinated starting May 1.
